Rehab Cults, False Ministries, and Street Corner Deceptions

Many groups claiming to help the homeless, veterans, or those in recovery set up outside major retailers to solicit donations or sell products. While some are legitimate, others operate as “rehab cults” or prosperity gospel ministries—working vulnerable people hard to raise money under false pretenses. As Christians, we must practice discernment, knowing that not every group invoking God’s name is serving Him faithfully.
